About Job's Daughters

Job's Daughters International

History

Job's Daughters was founded in 1921 by Mrs. Ethel T. Wead Mick. She chose the Holy Bible's Book of Job as the center of the teachings for her new organization. Special reference is made to Chapter 42 verse 15, "In all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren."

Membership

Young women between the ages of 10 and 20, who are related to a Master Mason in good standing, may join Job's Daughters. At the age of 9 girls can join the Jobie-to-Bee Program. This allows the girls to become involved in the fun activities and meet the other daughters prior to formally joining the order.

Teachings of Job's Daughters

Job's Daughters respects and values:

  • Love of God
  • Respect of flag and country
  • Respect to parents, guardians, and other elders
  • Kindness to fellow men

Bethel meetings are run democratically using Roberts Rules of Order. The daughters elect the top five officers for a six month term of office, with the Honored Queen presiding over the meetings.

The HIKE (Hearing Impaired Kids Endowment) Fund Inc is the philanthropic project of Job's Daughters. At least twice a year Maryland Job's Daughters join together to raise funds for this project. Each Honored Queen selects a charity for their term, some decide to use HIKE.
